Julius and him leaving the Gang life
When the storyline was first revealed, a lot of people wondered why Julius is shown to have left Gang warfare and the gang life in general in Saints Row 2, what caused him to do this? He governed enough authority over Stilwater to have holded the Saints in place, and there was a lot more money to be made now that the protagonist was gone, even then, what caused him to completely do away with the Gang life?
A few reasons for this have been revealed, and according to our sources, the biggest reason Julius left the gang life was because of Julius being the main plotter of the boat explosion that caused the player to be in the Comatose for five years, yes, thats true. Julius used to be one of the best acquaintances the player had in Saints Row 1, however, as times changed, the player got on to Julius’s bad side somehow which caused him to help in committing the freak explosion on that fateful day.
In the story trailer released by THQ, the protagonist is shown shooting Julius to his death. Where he reveals that if it weren’t for Julius he wouldn’t have been in the comatose for five years. Julius appears to be satisfied with his argument before his death and says “I guess that makes us even” (referring to when he saved the Protagonist’s life once in Saints Row 1). Although it is not clear whether Julius was actually shot, but a gunshot is heard in the background, there is no doubt that Julius caused the explosion though, or at least helped in the execution.
Another minor reason so as to why Julius left was probably also due to the Ultor corporation’s massive growth upon the presumed death of the protagonist. This probably uprooted Saints right from their roots.
Saints Row 2 has one of the deepest stories in all the games that I have played. Which is one of the many reasons why I love this game, lets see what happens to Julius when the game is finally released! Keep rockin’ Gangsters!
Headbangsta
If one listens closely to the time when Julius gets shot in the trailer, you can hear what I believe is a spattering of blood hitting the floor.
Even though the Trailer depicts your character killing Julius, it doesn’t necessarily mean you are going to kill Julius in the game. Saints Row II could best GTA IV’s decision system by allowing the character to kill/let live the main characters from his past.
As to why he left the Saints in general, it’s not entirely clear, but we do know that all the potential leaders to the Saints were arrested (Johnny Gat), supposedly killed (your character), or conspired to bring about your downfall (any number of characters including Dex, Julius, Troy, etc.).
Also, wasn’t your character comatose for 15 years? I’ve heard that the story takes place 15 years after the first, but I can’t seem to confirm it completely.
pretty god dam cool
I think he let the boat explode because Julius was scared that your character would take his place as the boss of the saints.
But this storyline is awesome!!
